Another week, another taco. These were filled with chicken, a ripe tomato we picked up at the farmer’s market on the way home from Pennsylvania, cheese, black beans, cilantro, guacamole, and roasted red peppers.
Delicious — thanks, Chef Matt!

I’ve also been eating a lot of eggs this week. First up was an egg salad sandwich for lunch.
Sadly, Riese doesn’t like egg salad — she makes a big face and spits it out if we try to give it to her. Oh well.
The egg salad was made with mayo, Dijon mustard, and chopped ham, and I added some peppery arugula on the sandwich. My mom makes really good egg salad — thanks, Mom!

The second egg feast was an omelette this morning — I was pretty proud of my omelette-making skills. Pretty, right?

It was filled with more of that farmer’s market tomato, chopped spinach, fresh dill, and sharp cheddar tucked inside.

Riese did enjoy this — she ate a lot of the cheesy egg portion (but not the veggies or tomato; she randomly hates tomato).
If you’re in the mood for a different omelette to try, I also have an Apple and Cheddar omelet recipe I’ve shared before. And yes, the spelling varies — omelette or omelet — both are acceptable, so pick the one you like.
We also enjoyed pizza this week. Matt and I went to Alto Fumo (the spot that used to be Faccia Luna — thankfully the menu is the same) after Riese went to bed. We’re still staying with my parents, so we wanted to take advantage of a night out.

We started with salads and drinks (I had a glass of prosecco) and shared a pizza topped with pepperoni, mushrooms, roasted red pepper, and artichoke hearts. We asked for extra sauce on the side, but they put it on top — I didn’t mind. The more sauce, the better, in my book. We ordered a large so there would be leftovers, and I enjoyed a slice for lunch the next day.
On the fitness front, I’ve kept up my usual yoga routine. I love YogaWorks in Arlington and I’ll miss it when we move to Alexandria in late July. For readers in Del Ray or Old Town — any studio recommendations?

Besides a few yoga classes, I tried a Solidcore class early this morning with my friend Chelsea. We wanted to mix things up from our usual boot camp; Solidcore (a high-intensity reformer Pilates class) seemed worth trying since it’s on ClassPass and we had credits to use.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t a great fit for us. The workout was challenging, but the session felt a bit monotonous and the instructor’s approach didn’t sit well with either of us. When I needed to modify exercises, the instructor’s corrections made me feel guilty rather than supported. That may not have been the intention, but that’s how it came across. We decided not to pursue more Solidcore classes for now.

Still, I’m glad we tried it — it’s always worth testing something new. Not every workout suits every person; the goal is to find what you love. I do want to try a traditional reformer Pilates class next, which I’ve enjoyed before because the format feels more dynamic and the time flies. If you know of any energetic reformer Pilates classes around, I’d love suggestions.
Now nap time is almost over and I need to wrap up a few emails before Riese wakes up. I’m also excited for a quick overnight press trip tomorrow afternoon — it’s been a long time since I’ve been on one, and I’m looking forward to it. In the meantime, I’ll be back on Friday with a new recipe — stay tuned!
